Our Saturday Engineering Club introduces students to real STEM concepts through hands-on model building using LEGO®.
Each week, students build a new working model while exploring engineering concepts such as gears, pulleys, levers, structural stability and mechanical movement. Using guided instruction and tablet support, students investigate how real-world machines and mechanisms operate.
Students are also introduced to engineering thinking as they build, test, identify problems and modify their designs. This helps develop problem-solving skills, creativity, persistence and teamwork in a fun and engaging environment.
No prior experience is required. Places are limited to 16 students.
Saturday Schedule
Classes run from 9:00am to 10:30am in Meeting Room 1 at Amherst Village Community Centre.
Students must be signed in by a parent or guardian at the beginning of each session. Parents are welcome to return from 10:10am to see what their child has built. Models are packed away during the final 10 minutes, and students must be signed out when collected at 10:30am.
